Last Cheap Thrill of 2011, so let's go out on a party note with a Little Black Dress (LBD) edition. We're posting this a couple of days early, since some of these sales are going on now and quantities may be limited. This is the time when many of us are getting invitations to holiday parties, and the first question that runs through my mind is, "What am I going to wear?" That's when I turn to my trusty, and ever-growing, LBD collection. Dress it up with some bling and heels, dress it down with a cardigan and flats - you can't go wrong with the LBD.
Like us ladies, LBDs come in all shapes and sizes. I found a variety of dresses for my Cheap Thrillers, keeping the price at $100 and under. I try to keep most Cheap Thrills to $50 (ish) and under, but bumped it up to $100 because these aren't just one-time party dresses. The LBD is an item you can keep in your wardrobe beyond the party season and can re-wear on other occasions. Like your bff chola, the LBD will have your back when you need her.
This simple and chic little number is available in sizes 2-12 at Topshop's US site. It features a scoop neck and a slightly flared skirt, perfect for your basic LBD. Make it fabulous with some tights, heels and your favorite jewelery. Even if someone else shows up with a similar dress, your accessories will make the whole ensemble completely unique to you. You all know how I love ASOS, their plus size line called Curve is slowly taking over my entire wardrobe. I especially love the long sleeves, if you're like me and don't like going sleeveless, this will give you an option that doesn't require a sweater or other cover-up. All ASOS orders ship free (no minimum purchase) and returns are easy and free!
If you're feeling a little daring and want to flaunt what'chu got, this ASOS dress is just the ticket. It's got a pencil skirt, some gathering at the bust and a red bow detail at the waist. Some of the sizes are sold out, but it's still available in sizes 4-10.
This is a cute, slightly peek-a-boo, lace dress that needs to be worn to a party. You can cover up with a little camisole underneath if the cutaway bodice makes you feel too exposed. Only $50! And available in sizes 2-14.
Neiman Marcus is high end store, and normally wouldn't have much to offer Cheap Thrills. But this proves you need to shop sales regardless of the store because good deals can be found everywhere! Better yet, they list discount codes right on the item's page, get an extra 33% off this dress using the code: NMF12_T3NBB - cool, right? This LBD is another long sleeve option, with a criss-cross design over the bust, and is available in sizes S-XL.
Plus size LBDs don't need to be frumpy! Take a look at this lacy option from Nordstrom, which is currently 40% off. It falls to the knee, is fully lined and has a very flattering scoop neck in the front and back. Available in sizes 14-24.
A slightly dressier LBD currently 45% off and available in sizes 2-14, this satin strapless would look great at a holiday cocktail party, or at your next dressy event. It comes with removable (and adjustable) straps and has build in rubber grips and boning in the bodice to help support your girls and keep the dress in place.
This was my favorite pick of the plus size dresses, but unfortunately it's only available in sizes 14 or 22. If either of those are your size, you should snap this up while it's 50% off! The dress has an empire waist and some ruching along the side for a slimming effect. Nordstrom is offering free shipping on some items and has a hassle free return policy - you can either send the items back at no charge or return it to a Nordstrom store location.
Last but not least is another lacy LBD from Macy's, with a scoop neck and a flattering A-Line skirt. Macy's has tons of dresses on sale, check out the website for oodles more. The Sale Pass doesn't count towards clearance items, but if you happen to find a qualifying item don't forget to use your pass for an extra 10% off!
