Cheap Thrills: Coif It Up

In this edition of Cheap Thrills we'll be exploring our inner hair inspirations, be it Rapunzel, Mia Farrow (circa Rosemary's Baby) or Curly Sue. The bevy of hair accessories available to us is staggering, but let's try to narrow it down to a selection that is worthy of our lovely locks that won't break the bank. Toss your hair back and dive in!

Girlie Satin Bow - $12 Band.do
What long hair fantasy is complete without a satin bow? You could buy some satin ribbon and make your own, but if you're as hopeless as making pretty bows as I am, perhaps this satin bow from Band.do is just the ticket. It's available in black, red or pink, and if you sign up for Band.do's mailing list you'll get 15% off your first purchase.

Vintage Button Gold Hair Pins - $14.50 AlliesAdornments (Etsy)
I had a hard time picking just one set of hair pins from AlliesAdornments, so if you like these, be sure to check out the rest of the shop! This set is made from an antique Victorian glass button on gold plated hair pins. If you can keep from buying them all for yourself, they'd make really cute Christmas gifts!

Hello Kitty Monster Hairpins - $14 Sanrio
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for Hello Kitty. But come on, you have to agree that these hairpins are adorable. You get 4 pins, a pair with the monster figures and another pair with the Hello Kitty logo. Wear them one at a time, all at once or share with your BFF, go nuts! Sanrio is offering free shipping and an exclusive Tokidoki x Hello Kitty mug with purchases over $75, details are here.

Hello Kitty Devil Horns - $8.40 Sanrio
Indulge an old lady and let me just show you these HK devil horns! Halloween may be over, but that doesn't mean you still can't slip these on when you're in the Jack in the Box drive-thru, vacuuming or catching up with episodes of Anderson on your DVR. Don't forget about that free mug with a $75 purchase, do your Christmas shopping at Sanrio and keep it for yourself, you deserve it!

Hot Pink Leopard Hair Tie - $10 EmiliaFaith (Etsy)
Long hair, short hair, straight hair, or curly hair - at some point we need to keep it from falling into our faces. This 50s style hair tie in pink leopard is just the thing for keeping your lovely locks outta your eyes (like your mom always yells at you to do). Just last week I found myself running out of the house for some last minute Halloween makeup shopping, this would have been the perfect thing to hide the zombie librarian hair I was rocking!

Thin Leather Headwrap - $65 Jennifer Behr
I know, it's $65, but you didn't think I would let a post go by where I didn't try to sneak in some deluxe thrill! Even if the price is out of your budget, just keep the idea of this leather band in mind - you can shop around for something more inexpensive. It's nice to fantasy window shop sometimes, you can take away a lot of inspiration. Don't be afraid to look, take notes and seek out a more budget friendly option on your own. If you do find something you like at Jennifer Behr, they're offering a 20% discount when you use the code FeelinFallish when you checkout. Woo!

Goody Spin Pin - $6.29 Target
Before you write me off after that leather hair band, check out the Goody Spin Pin. I was curious about this when it first came out, and for those of you who haven't tried it, let me tell you... it works! My hair is really heavy, and these suckers do a good job of defying gravity. You can find them at most drug stores or anywhere beauty supplies are sold, and they're about $6. Goody makes them in two colors, Brunette and Blonde. They're easy to use, you just twist your hair up into a bun (or if you wanna get fancy, sling it low and call it a chignon), then you put one of the pins at the top and spin. It works its way into your hair (without tangling!) and anchors it into place. You put the second pin into the bottom of the bun and twist to secure the whole thing. Ta-da! Super easy to remove too, just twist in the opposite direction and they'll come right out.

So there you go, a simple accessory to add some razzle dazzle to your 'do!
